Get ready for an INCIDENT of intergalactic proportions. For the second year in a row, The String Cheese Incident and friends will celebrate the New Year at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland. This three-day indoor music festival, called 2001: A String Cheese Odyssey, will take music, myth and theater to delicious new heights. With two stages of talented and diverse musicians, the main stage will feature the notoriously outstanding live performance of The String Cheese Incident with very special guests, reggae legends Steel Pulse, urban Latin funksters Ozomatli, and the one-man-band Keller Williams. On the second stage, look forward to Bay Area favorites Vinyl, Maui's ethno-electronic dance shamans Lost at Last, the didgeridoo-based tribal grooves of Dr. Didg, bluegrass bandits Yonder Mountain String Band and visionary guitar pyro-technician Scott Huckabay.
2001: A String Cheese Odyssey promises to be one of the country's largest and most exciting New Year's musical gatherings. With over 8000 tickets available for each night, attendees of all ages will experience amazing music and witness the breathtaking Odyssey Circus featuring trapeze artists, sword swallowers, contortionists, jugglers, vaudevillians, stiltwalkers, aliens, giant puppets, comedians, cabaret, and more.
Peak Experience Productions also sets this event apart by offering audience members the opportunity to co-create and star in the ceremonial aspects of the festival (check out www.peakexperience.cc). This event's theme is Evolution, beginning the first night with Water (the world's primordial beginning), then Earth (tribalism and ceremony that unites people) and finally Space (transcendence and communion with the cosmos).
In addition, there will be myriad of audience participatory activities and entertainment for all age groups. Each evening will feature a wide variety of reasonably priced food options, a beer and wine garden, and limited, professional childcare. Come celebrate the true birth of the new millennium in safe, high style in this beautiful state-of-the-art entertainment complex.
Bring the kids!
Crafts and activities for the young one's will be provided by Munchkin Care, an experienced and professional childcare service.
