Buzz Date: September 23, 2004
by Skandar Rassas and Paul Rosner at Musictoday
Just days ago, modern power rock quintet Jimmy Eat World released its third album, Futures. In support of the new record, the members of Jimmy Eat World will serve as featured guest hosts this week on MTV2's "Rock World" (through Friday, October 29), a program that airs weeknights at 8:00 p.m. EST. The band launched an extensive fall tour October 15 during CMJ's annual festival at the Warsaw in Brooklyn, New York. The outing follows its NYC opening with a trip to the West Coast, before returning to the East Coast for a few dates, including a November 11 appearance at the Rock Club in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. The final scheduled date takes place December 2 at the Tweeter Center in Philadelphia. For ticketing information, visit the group's official Web site, www.jimmyeatworld.com.
The October 19 release of Futures marks the first recording for Jimmy Eat World since the smashing success of 2001's Bleed American, which has sold 1.3 million copies to date. In addition to the ongoing tour, the band also performed October 14 on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien" and October 22 on "Jimmy Kimmel Live." The new album's first single, "Pain," has already performed well, climbing to number seven on the Billboard Modern Rock chart and making MTV's Buzzworthy list.
