The Challenge

Esperanza Spalding’s sixth studio album ‘Exposure’ was to be written, recorded, and produced over an uninterrupted 77 hours, all while being streamed on Facebook Live. To support Esperanza and her team, Musictoday designed a pre-order website and digital campaign that would best showcase this unique project and help drive sales of ‘Exposure’.

The Concept

A limited amount of 7,777 records were to be released. Each would be signed, and packaged with a gift from Esperanza of notepaper on which lyrics, chords, and creation-related notes were written from the recording session itself. The 3-day long recording session started broadcasting to Facebook Live at 9 am on Tuesday, September 12 and ended in the afternoon of Friday, September 15.

Campaigns were launched over email and Esperanza linked to the store on her social channels to drive site traffic and boost record sales. The website was thoughtfully designed to reflect the artist and showcase her groundbreaking project.
