Visual Designer (Part-Time)

Musictoday is seeking a part-time Visual Designer for our Creative Department. The Visual Designer plays a key role in the daily design, development and maintenance of our many clients’ e-commerce stores, including the creation of store designs and daily marketing and promotional assets.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Creative Director and other members of the Creative Department to create designs for clients by designing within Musictoday e-commerce environments, including online stores, web ticketing sites, and e-newsletters, utilizing and adhering to the existing visual language of Musictoday clients.
  • Designs web sites, user interfaces (UI), mobile frameworks, navigation solutions, and brand elements within all web and email environments.
  • Prepares comps for online client presentations.
  • Applies design-thinking principles to create digital and print assets, virtual environments and UX design
    Assists with organizing and contributing to the company’s asset library.
  • Daily production of online banner ads and other materials and provides revisions when necessary
  • Adheres to deadlines and communicates progress to the Creative Director
  • Prepares approved comps to the Front End Designer for development of e-commerce stores
  • Assists the Front End Designer in the development of e-commerce stores
  • Relied upon to concept and design high quality creative work that pushes the Musictoday forward.
  • Works with other departments to ensure client’s requests or project needs are being met
  • Provides suggestions and solutions when appropriate
  • Works with engineering team when necessary in correctly translating completed designs into programmed web pages.
  • Works extended hours as needed during peak business periods.

 
Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in arts, design, communications, or relevant fields; and/or 3-5 years relevant work experience as a designer in advertising/marketing, media/entertainment, and/or digital technology.
  • Strong design, layout and conceptual skills.
  • Knowledge of typography and its usage in online forums
  • Extreme attention to detail
  • Strong spelling, grammar, and punctuation skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of digital design issues (browser usability and limitations, cross-platform compatibility, color, image compression, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, web site design and maintenance
  • Stays current on new and emerging technologies and trends in the digital and design world
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Must be a self-motivated and positive person that collaborates well with others
  • Highly skilled in Adobe CC (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.
  • Skilled in working with Apple Macintosh OS 10.x operating environments.
  • Knowledge of print design a bonus
