Employee Spotlight - Matt Wood
Client Services Assistant, Matt Wood

Musictoday employee, Matt Wood, is a Client Services Assistant in the Client Services department. Matt has a variety of responsibilities including assisting account managers and clients, handling comp orders, programming promotions, and general upkeep of stores among other things. He explains, “We’re the client-facing aspect of the business. I do a lot of work for the client services managers and director – I tend to bounce around as needed”.

One of Matt’s favorite things about working at Musictoday is the caliber of the clients here. “There are a lot of household names. Like anyone, I have my own tastes, but it is really cool to get to do stuff with LCD Soundsystem. They’ve been one of my favorite bands for most of my adult life.” His favorite genre of music is funk.

There are a lot of household names. Like anyone, I have my own tastes, but it is really cool to get to do stuff with LCD Soundsystem. They’ve been one of my favorite bands for most of my adult life.

When asked about his first concert, Matt laughed as he recalled seeing N’Sync at the Norfolk Scope when he was nine years old. “[the band members] were suspended in the air by these strings and my dad said I was looking up at them and my face just turned green”. Unfortunately, the night was cut short when Matt threw-up on a girl in front of him, despite the best efforts of his father to intercept the mess.

Matt is not only a fan, but a musician as well. He plays bass in two bands; Erin & the Wildfire alongside colleague Ryan, and Post Sixty Five with colleague Kim. He also plays in a pickup jazz trio.

When he’s not at work or playing music, Matt enjoys cooking, sampling the many restaurants that Charlottesville has to offer, and spending time with his new dog named Pawlie. “I’ve never had a dog before, so I’m still getting used to that.”

Thank you for your time, Matt!
